Oral History Made Easy 2025
Are you interested in becoming an oral historian but not sure where to start? If so, this is the perfect workshop for you!.Make 2026 the year you begin to record those all important memories! By the end of this three hour live workshop delivered on Zoom, you will have: (i) Acquired an introductory working knowledge on the principles and practices which inform an oral history project. (ii) Explored how we are hardwired to share stories: the nature of ‘memory’ and ‘habitus.’ (iii) Discovered how oral history is defined and how it may be used. (iv) Know more about ethics, informed consent and working with participants. (v) Find out the golden rules of interviewing: working with participants; active listening; open questions; framework for best practice; preparation and equipment. (vi) Your next steps. All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation. This workshop will be delivered by Dr Angela Maye-Banbury, Principal Oral Historian, Emeritus Fellow in Oral History Founder of Oral History Made Easy and Chairperson Achill Oral Histories.
